Whilst it might be tempting to inspect your roof when you notice a problem, it is important to wait until it is safe to do so. As many leaks appear during a storm or heavy weather, the area may still be very wet and unsafe to put ladders up to see. No short term fixes
Try to avoid cheaper and shorter term fixes as the problem will always come back. Optimism for 2016 in Roofing Industry
At the beginning of 2016, it already appears that the New Year will bring renewed optimism within the roofing industry. 2015 was a strange year, with a general election, uncertainty on the number of house building projects to be commissioned and much more.
Yet towards the end of the year, the optimism returned after announcements by the government to build over 1 million houses by 2020, a figure that continues to rise. The importance of driving house building growth, coupled with a new found optimism in the construction sector as a whole, has also meant more companies are looking at ways to improve their properties, with roofing and infrastructure two key components.
The unfortunate weather conditions which Yorkshire families have had to deal with recently have also lead to many looking at safeguarding their property further in 2016. 2015 has been a fantastic year for the company, where we have strengthened our commercial roofing offering, working closely with leading national companies like Leeds/Bradford International Airport, Doncaster International Airport, global internet giants Amazon, Ford Motor Company and Virgin Media to name just a few household names.
We have also begun working with Unity Housing Association in Leeds, providing roofing services and maintenance to their social housing in the Leeds areas.
Please note DPR will be closed from 4pm on Friday 18th December until 6am on Monday 4th January, however we will be offering a reduced emergency roofing service throughout this period should you have any major issues. Email enquiries will be dealt with only on a severity basis.
DPR Provide support for Internet Giants Amazon
DPR Roofing has recently provided roofing services for internet sensation Amazon, at their Doncaster warehouse.
The Doncaster warehouse is one of the homes of their Pantry services, which sees homeowners able to order food for 1 hour delivery (in designated areas) all at the click of the button.
An enquiry through our Leeds roofing site saw Darren Rickett survey the site and give advice on the roof ventilation system needed. The large roofing area required 25 new fan installations for ventilation added as well as roof snorkels which allow for the safe use of cables/pipes from internal sources.
The works took two of our leading roofers 2 weeks to complete and such was the quality of the completed roofing jobs, we have since been commissioned for other roofing works on the site, which are now also completed.

Heavy Rain causes problems in Yorkshire
Tuesday’s heavy rain has caused havoc across the whole of Yorkshire as water leaks through into people homes.
A conversation with a property landlord in Wakefield established that two of his properties now suffered with damp issues, caused by the water being unable to run off the roof due to blocked gutters. Unfortunately, this time of the year is notorious for roofing problems. Due to the season, leave fall off the trees and collect in the guttering of lower level buildings. DPR add new vehicle to its fleet
DPR has recently expanded our fleet of vehicles once more, with a brand new survey van for the team.
Already the top of the range van Ford Transit Connect has been in demand by our surveyors due to its equipment level and super smooth ride compared with any other van we have had. Inbuilt sat nav, reversing camera, twin climate control and heated seats (for those cold winter days) are items that were only seen on high end cars such as BMW and Mercedes until of recent times.

Celebration for supplier Russell Roof Tiles
DPR Roofing has recently learnt of an anniversary for a supplier in the roofing industry.
It is a year to remember for roof tile manufacturer Russell roof tiles. The company is celebrating a number of years together and has recently hosted a fundraising Zumba class at the firm’s head office in Burton on Trent. Staff from the head office and factory joined together to enjoy a fun fitness class that was arranged to help create funds for Help for Heroes.
One of the staff members at the company led the Zumba class having been a previous fitness instructor. Apparently according to reports the event raised over £700 for the charity which helps servicemen and women and their families who are in the armed forces. This is the second fundraising event that the company has hosted this year’s anniversary year having previously raised over £3000 for a Macmillan Cancer Care.
DPR Roofing has also conducted and held many charity event in our 26 year existence and recently supported a young lady in her bid to raise money for cancer care too.

DPR delight local resident
DPR Roofing recently delighted a local resident after the heavy summer rains caused considerable problem at their home.
Their dormer on one side of the property was leaking horrendously with water entering into the building on a regular basis. The heavy rain meant that the situation had become untenable and the home owner quickly called on our emergency team to come and repair the issues.
Within 48 hours the dormer had been completely renewed and the homeowner was so pleased at the quality of the work and the professionalism of our team, that he requested his other dormer to be replaced a few days after as they were the same age and the worry this could also fail was just too much. This was scheduled and completed quickly much to his delight.
This is just one of many examples where the DPR team go above and beyond to meet the needs of every individual. The very heavy rain meant that our emergency team were stretched during this busy weekend, however we continue to offer an excellent service to both the commercial and domestic sectors. We recently spoke about a job at Speedy Hire which was completed on the same weekend and we have also completed emergency works at other venues including at a golf course in Yorkshire with hundreds of roof holes from not golf balls but golf ball sized hail stones.

Emergency Gutter Repair for Unity Housing
The strong winds during the past month have caused havoc at properties across the Yorkshire region, with the Unity Enterprise centre having a cast iron gutter fall off their building.
The large and very heavy piece of guttering fell from the rear of the property, straight into the rear yard area of the Enterprise Centre and could have caused a fatal accident had someone been outside at the time.
The gutter fell off without any notice despite regular checks on the building by DPR and Unity. It just goes to show that accidents can happen at just about anytime regardless of inspections. The corrosion was hidden out of sight and nobody could have predicted the gutter fall.
As per our agreement with Unity Housing, our team were on site quickly and as per our recommendations and their instructions, emergency scaffolding was put around the building and all the cast iron guttering removed from the building.
The same day, the team replaced these pipes with brand new PVC alternatives which are much safer, fitting them to the whole property. All the work was completed within 48 hours and did not stop the enterprise centre being used, much to the delight of the client.
DPR Roofing has been working with Unity Housing on a number of projects for just under 6 months and we continue to provide guttering checks and cleans for them across the whole of Leeds on a contract basis.
