Prime Minister flies in during DPR works

The DPR team were lucky enough to see Prime Minister David Cameron last week as they started work on the aircraft hangars at Leeds/Bradford Airport.

The site manager had contracted DPR to carry out roofing maintenance works and whilst the team were there, a private RAF jet carrying Cameron landed at the airport right at their side. Cameron was visiting the region for an important meeting before flying back to London later in the day. Whilst the DPR team were working they waved at Cameron who waved back before heading off to his event.

Working at Leeds Bradford International Airport is just one of many companies of which DPR are now providing roofing maintenance works for. In the past month we have also secured an ongoing roofing maintenance programme with Yorkshire Water contractors , IETG/40seven who provide data loggers and underground utility services for Yorkshire Water.

If you, like these companies, would like the reassurances of a contracted roofing company to ensure you building is prepared for the harshest of weather conditions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our team today.

New Contract with 40Seven

DPR Roofing Ltd are pleased to announce we have recently obtained a roofing contract with data logging company 40Seven, based in Leeds.

The company have developed state of the art technology to help record the data on pollution, drainage and other construction based information to allow companies to work within environmental guidelines and produce high end quality throughout any works.

The new contract comes off the back of DPR carrying out regularly works at the IETG building in Leeds during the past year. The DPR team have been called out regularly to repair issues with the roof and checked the gutters, and because of the high quality work and regularity of call outs, the site manager has asked DPR to provide contracted services from January 2016.

The contract will include basic roof maintenance, the cleaning and unblocking of any gutters on the building and regular checking of the site. We will also be on hand in an emergency within 24 hours and endeavour to provide ongoing reports on the roof condition to prevent any serious roofing problems.

With so much technology at the Leeds site, it is important that their roof is in top condition to prevent damage to any of the technological equipment.

This contract is one of many we have with local Yorkshire based companies to safeguard them from roofing disasters. We currently provide similar offerings for Wesco Aircraft in Huddersfield, Premium Timber in Dewsbury and Wakefield College Estate which looks after Wakefield College, Wakefield Girls High and QEGS.

If your business is getting fed up of roof problems, or is racking up an expensive call out bill for so called roofers, consider a roofing contract with DPR Roofing, please contact DPR Roofing on 0800 458 7751, ask to speak to Darren Rickett who will assure you of first class customer service.

Understanding your roof

Despite the roof being one of the most important parts of a home, protecting our possessions and our own safety, many homeowners are not that knowledgeable about their roof. At DPR Roofing, we believe that educating our clients and customers on how to check their roof can not only help them spot potentially larger problems, hopefully saving them lots of repair money, but also help us when surveying and repairing damage too.

Below our team of Yorkshire based roofers, covering Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Barnsley and Pontefract, have listed some of best ways to help you understand your roof.

Inspect your roof when it is safe

Whilst it might be tempting to inspect your roof when you notice a problem, it is important to wait until it is safe to do so. As many leaks appear during a storm or heavy weather, the area may still be very wet and unsafe to put ladders up to see. Only when safe to do so, then (if you know how) consider checking out the problems.

No short term fixes

Try to avoid cheaper and shorter term fixes as the problem will always come back. Whilst for financial reasons you may have to choose a lower end option, if you can afford the full repair you should always do this. These are proven to last a lot longer and return your roof to a level of high quality at all times.

Use a professional

If you are totally confused about roofing and how roof damage can occur, you should not attempt to do any works yourself. Calling in on the professionals is not a sign of DIY weakness. Choosing a reputable roofer will give you a clear diagnosis, recommend the best course of action and lay out all the options and possibilities.

We hope these three points have helped you understand a bit more about roof works and your roof. If you have got roof problems caused by the local weather changes, or just require a survey on your roof after you notice unexplained roof damage, please do not hesitate to contact one of our team today.

Optimism for 2016 in Roofing Industry

At the beginning of 2016, it already appears that the New Year will bring renewed optimism within the roofing industry. 2015 was a strange year, with a general election, uncertainty on the number of house building projects to be commissioned and much more.

Yet towards the end of the year, the optimism returned after announcements by the government to build over 1 million houses by 2020, a figure that continues to rise. The importance of driving house building growth, coupled with a new found optimism in the construction sector as a whole, has also meant more companies are looking at ways to improve their properties, with roofing and infrastructure two key components.

The unfortunate weather conditions which Yorkshire families have had to deal with recently have also lead to many looking at safeguarding their property further in 2016. Problems caused by the heavy rains include flooding at a ground level, but also roof damage caused by blocked guttering, and damp patches then forming inside as the water find a natural path of escape.

It is not just homeowners who have been unfortunate at this time, with many local businesses also having to count the cost of damages to their property. We spoke about a client in Wakefield last year who had to close for two days whilst we fixed guttering at their property, something which could have been avoided.

Other reasons to be optimistic in 2016 are that more people are looking to develop their homes. In a recent report, it claims that homeowners have more disposable income this year than in many previous years, allowing those to save up and spend on the areas they wish. Whether they are looking to develop their homes for a resale, or to allow them to stay in their property, making changes to roof structures can be crucial.

DPR are very much looking forward to the next few months and will continue to work hard to ensure we meet the requests of our clients, working compassionately at all times. If you require roofing works in the Yorkshire region, please do not hesitate to contact DPR today.

Fed Up Of Repairs

A repair may seem financially appealing at the time, but in the long run have a new roof may be more likely to save you time and money. The most common types of roof damages are punctures, leaks and tile blow-offs; these damages can be easily repaired but will likely happen again. However, depending on the quality of the repair, it may only last a year or two.

DPR Roofing has recently provided roofing services for internet sensation Amazon, at their Doncaster warehouse.

The Doncaster warehouse is one of the homes of their Pantry services, which sees homeowners able to order food for 1 hour delivery (in designated areas) all at the click of the button.

An enquiry through our Leeds roofing site saw Darren Rickett survey the site and give advice on the roof ventilation system needed. The large roofing area required 25 new fan installations for ventilation added as well as roof snorkels which allow for the safe use of cables/pipes from internal sources.

The works took two of our leading roofers 2 weeks to complete and such was the quality of the completed roofing jobs, we have since been commissioned for other roofing works on the site, which are now also completed.

DPR Roofing has recently been involved with many commercial roofing works and is now considered to be one of the leading commercial roofing contractors in the Yorkshire region. Heavy Rain causes problems in Yorkshire

Tuesday’s heavy rain has caused havoc across the whole of Yorkshire as water leaks through into people homes.

A conversation with a property landlord in Wakefield established that two of his properties now suffered with damp issues, caused by the water being unable to run off the roof due to blocked gutters. Unfortunately, this time of the year is notorious for roofing problems. Due to the season, leave fall off the trees and collect in the guttering of lower level buildings. This then prevents the water that collects on the roof from finding the intended way off the roof, and it instead tries to find more natural ways through weak points which lead to an array of roofing problems.

Also, due to the dry period we have had in recent weeks, the volume of rain within a two hour period was just so heavy that roofs could not take the brunt of the rain. In Royston a garage roof gave way due to the weight of the water on a particular weak point within the structure, causing thousands of pounds of water damage to a vintage car inside.

Our Roofing teams are warning people to take precautions now as more heavy rain is anticipated throughout the rest of the year. Whether you may think your roof is fine, it is worth checking yourself or getting a professional roofing company like ourselves out to conduct a full survey. Even if it is just some minor gutter clearing that needs attending to, it could save you thousands of pounds in the long run.

If you would like to know more information about how our roofing company can help homeowners across west Yorkshire, including Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, and Pontefract and in Barnsley in South Yorkshire, please call one of our teams today. Don’t get caught out this winter through negligence on your roof maintenance, so do it now before it is too late.
